Virgin Orbit’s Cosmic Lady service airplane has arrived in Cornwall in preparation for the first-ever orbital launch from the UK.
Cosmic Lady, a modified Boeing 747 service plane, landed at Newquay Airport in Cornwall on Oct. 11. Virgin Orbit is concentrating on a November takeoff from Spaceport Cornwall to launch the pioneering “Begin Me Up” mission.
Cosmic Lady will carry a LauncherOne rocket with it underneath its wing earlier than releasing it within the higher environment. The 2-stage rocket will then do the remainder of the work to ship eight small satellites into orbit for a variety of presidency and business clients.
